Since 1974 Ann
Smith has dedicated her career to helping
individuals and families seeking a healthier way
of life. Her early years of work with chemical
dependency lead her to Caron Foundation where
she developed the 1st inpatient
program for adult children from dysfunctional
families in 1984. In her 8 years with Caron,
14,000 people benefited from her pioneering work with experiential
group therapy.
In 1991, Ann
founded BREAKTHROUGH
HEALTHY LIVING WORKSHOPS, a five day
residential program held monthly in Parkton,
Maryland. Along with the Breakthrough program,
Ann operates a private practice in Harrisburg,
PA where she offers individual, couples, family
and group therapy with other skilled therapists.
Her knowledge of individual
and family dynamics is documented in her two
published books, Grandchildren
of Alcoholics;
Another Generation of Codependency and Overcoming
Perfectionism;
the Key to a Balanced Recovery. Ann is a
frequent lecturer to national audiences on a
variety of professional and personal growth
topics. She regularly conducts workshops for the
general public in the Baltimore, New York City
and Central Pennsylvania areas.
Along with the Breakthrough
program, Ann operates a private practice in
Harrisburg, PA where she offers individual,
couples, family and group therapy with other
skilled therapists. She
holds a Masters Degree in Rehabilitation
Counseling, is a Nationally Certified Counselor
and a Clinical Member of the American
Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. Ann is
licensed as a Professional Counselor and a
Marriage and Family Therapist in Pennsylvania.
